1. Introduction

This page gives an explanation of all the controls on the Webifi Settings page. It is important that the values on this page are configured correctly, otherwise you could have problems connecting your devices to our service.

2. Server

Set server
Use the drop down list to select the server that is closest to your location. The closer the server is, the faster communication between your devices will be. If you have devices that are already connected then they will be disconnected from the current server and they will reconnect to the new server.

3. Connect Name

Set server
The connect name and password is used by all your devices to connect to the Webifi service. The connect name must be unique, if you enter a connect name that is already used by someone else you will receive an error message. All your devices can connect using the same connect name and password.

Please change this value with care if you already have devices connected using the existing connect name and password, they will most likely have to be restarted.

4. Reconnect All Devices

Reconnect devices
When this button is pressed the server will disconnect all your devices. All your devices should automatically reconnect again. This feature is used for testing and if something goes wrong on the network where one of your devices gets orphaned. In theory this should never happen but this button gives you a way to recover just in case.

5. User Networks

User networks
This is used to configure your networks. If you are using the free service then you can only configure one network. A network is similar to a wire, all devices connected to the same network will receive all the data sent on that network. You can give a network any name as long as there are no duplicates.

If you need to change the name of one of your networks, press the Set button next to it’s name. To delete a network, press the red cross next to it’s name. Please make sure to add at least one network. If your devices are connected to our service but are not using a valid network name then there is no way for them to communicate.
